Faculty and staff of The Ohio State University or other academic institutions and relevant entities, as well as elders and independent scholars, can apply for Affiliate status with the Newark Earthworks Center.
 
Affiliate status is a designation for those who are not hired to directly work for the Newark Earthworks Center but who share a demonstrated interest in the pursuit of teaching about, research on, and/or engagement with the ancestral and contemporary Indigenous places, peoples, cultures and experiences within and around Ohio.

The American Indian Studies Program Plays Several Roles at Ohio State

  1. We offer an interdisciplinary undergraduate Minor.
  2. We collaborate with other university programs and departments to develop American Indian Studies programming.
  3. We work with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and the Multicultural Center to promote awareness of Native issues on campus and to promote the recruitment and retention of Native students.
  4. We work with departments to promote the hiring of faculty working in American Indian Studies fields.
