Dr. Michael Mangus specializes in nineteenth-century United States social, political and military history. He also is a historian of Ohio, having published several edited books or book chapters on Midwestern and Ohio history. Dr. Mangus currently serves as the Historical Editor of Ohio Civil War Central [external link], an online encyclopedia of Ohio's Civil War history. Previously, he served as Historical Editor of Ohio History Central, the Ohio History Connection's online encyclopedia of Ohio's history. In 2016, his book on Ohio's military history will be published by Westholme Publishing. Dr. Mangus teaches courses on the United States, as well as in World History. He runs the History Department's internship program and advises the History Club of the Newark Campus.
